Convent of Santa Clara
The Convent of Santa Clara is famed for the nuns that sell the traditional biscuits to buyers without showing their faces at all. This enigmatic way of trading makes this olden site part of the list of tourist spots in Cordoba . This convent dates back to the year 1512, made evident by its ornate design which is a mélange of Gothic, Renaissance and Mudejar architecture.
Castle of Montilla
The Castle of Montilla is positioned on the town s uppermost zenith. The massive fortress was ruined centuries ago, brought about by the treachery of the Fernandez de Cordobas family to the Catholic King. At present, the ruins of the castle may still be seen amid the fortifications and towers.
Casa de La Inca
This manor was brought to life out of unique Ashlar marbles. Essential information regarding the olden days of Cordoba are echoed in its rooms and the huge patio. Today, Casa de la Inca serves as quarters for the Biblioteca Americanista .
Church of Santiago
This place of worship was put up at the start of the 16th century. At present, the Cathedral of Santiago serves as domicile for the carvings and sculpture works of different artists.
Wine Cellars
Montilla is best known for its world-class wines. It is impossible to mention the town name Montilla without equating it to the subject of wine. The town s specialty is a dry white wine of the same name. The Montilla wine is, more often than not, compared to the sherry wine. Although they may be similar in a lot of ways, the locals point out that the Montilla wine has lesser alcoholic content than sherry, and therefore does not bring out the hangover sensation. The largest and most dated winery in the district is Alvear , which started way back in the year 1729. The Bodegas Robles is also available for tours. Most wine cellar tours culminate with wine tasting sessions.
